# 4 Canned Tomatoes
Fresh tomatoes are considered a healthy food item. Canned tomatoes, on the other hand, are not. Why? Because of the bisphenol-A, or BPA, that can be found in the resin linings of tin cans.
BPA is a synthetic estrogen. It has been linked to diseases and ailments such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and reproductive problems. The amount of BPA found in most people’s bodies exceeds the amount that hinders sperm production. The BPA content you can find in a tomato can is 50 micrograms per liter. At that level, it will have an effect, especially on younger people. Tomatoes in glass bottles do not need resin linings, thus making it a healthier product.
