# 3 Egg Whites
There has been so much controversy over the years on the healthiness of whole eggs versus egg whites. Since egg whites are a fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie option in the replacement of egg yolks, they have often been promoted as a healthy choice.
Egg whites have high protein content with only 25 calories per ¼ cup. They are also fat and carb free. But, egg yolks are a great source of vitamin A (which is good for your skin), B vitamins (which are good for energy) and choline (an essential nutrient that’s needed for a healthy pregnancy and also supports brain health and muscles). The saturated fat in egg yolks is also needed for the body’s absorption of minerals and vitamins, and for the production of hormones. Of course, egg yolks are also high in protein.
